Backstory & Formal Training

Born in Winnipeg, Garth moved to Edmonton when he was four years old. As a child He was surrounded by builders and creators of many types. His father is a chemist possessed with incredible technical skill and creativity and his mother is a multidisciplinary artist who explored many creative outlets over the years. After high school Garth began his carpentry apprenticeship and a few years later completed the carpentry program at NAIT, receiving his Red Seal Journeyman ticket.  


Professional Experience

As a carpenter Garth relentlessly pursued the development of his skillset, spending several years working in high-end home construction and custom woodwork. In 2016 he founded his own carpentry company with a mandate to push forward his convictions about craftsmanship and excellence. Over the course of over 6 years running his business he designed, built and installed many highly detailed projects in the Edmonton area. With Archetype, Garth utilizes his technical background and experience to aid in the design and execution of custom cabinetry projects, seeing to it that every detail is carefully considered.  


Personal

In his spare time Garth can be found railing single track on his mountain bike or pushing the envelope on his BMX with the other dads. Garth enjoys hiking, backpacking and camping with his wife and two sons. He loves nothing more than cold plunges in mountain lakes, and wilderness nights under the stars.
